One of Kyle’s friends got married this past weekend, and it was such a beautiful ceremony and area to get married in. I did a horrible job photographing the weekend, so… oops.

We drove out the day of the wedding since it only took a few hours to get there, and I thought since the ceremony was at 4:30pm and check in was at 3pm, we should get to our hotel early so I have time to get ready. We got there around 1:30pm and they told us there were no rooms ready but to call around 2 to check again, so I did. She tells me “no,  there are no rooms available, but check back around 3, it should be ready by then.” Um, it better be??? LOL. So we drove back so I could talk to the front desk lady, because that was not the same woman that was on the phone. When we got there, she said, “yep, you’re all set!” And then we had to pay $25 for “early check in” which is cool if we show up like hours early, but we were only checking in like 30 minutes early. *insert eyeroll here*

I got ready at the speed of light and we headed out. We opted to drive ourselves regardless of the warning on the invitation that parking was limited, because I don’t trust ubers and I saw a taxi man smoking in his ratchet taxi mini van so that was a no-go for me. diva. So we drove and just decided that we’d figure it out when the time came.

The ceremony was beautiful even though I was sitting in a spot where I couldn’t really see a whole lot. It was windy but sunny, and we were right by the water. I was so close to Kyle and the guy on my other side, that I didn’t know what to do with my arms. And my dress kept getting swept with the wind onto the other guy’s lap, so that was awkward. I felt like I was constantly shuffling around and trying to keep my shit in my own space. GET YA SHIT TOGETHER.

And I’ve always been super intimidated by Kyle’s friends because they’re all so attractive. Like where we live now, I’m like a solid 9. Maybe even a 10 on a good day. And every time I get compliments, the next thing they say to me is, “you’re not from around here, are you?” But when we’re in the Wilmington area, I’m like.. a 5. HAHA. People there are so beautiful and tanned and skinny and they like.. get their hair done on a schedule and EVERYTHING. So I was totally nervous to go to this wedding. (besides the fact that weddings make me nervous for some reason…) But when I met two of his friends they were super sweet and introduced themselves and complimented my dress so that was cool.

Kyle met a fire fighter from their department who is actually engaged to one of his high school friends, so they talked all night. I’m hoping he stays up on their hiring schedule so we can MOVEEEEE.

After the ceremony, we drank beer and ate meatballs and shrimp until the wedding photos were done. Having been on that side of a wedding before, it felt sooooo good to be a guest for once. Wedding photographers are NO JOKE. Their job is HARD. I met some more of Kyle’s past and it was kinda fun to hear them reminisce.

When we left (a little after 9) I knew our car was locked in so I was interested to see how we were going to maneuver our way out. Luckily we were parked in front of the woods so we could back up a little, and then pull into the grass and turn our car around and out of the lot.

I was so tired and Kyle was so drunk (despite the fact that he said he was NOT) I know his mannerisms a little better than that by now and he was a total drunky pants. I knew for certain when we walked toward the hotel and he yelled “LOOK AT THOSE PURPLE ASS PLANTS!” HUSH IT BOY.

The next day, we got up and went to Blue Surf Cafe for breakfast. We were sooo hungry and couldn’t decide between a protein/salty breakfast and a sugary sweet breakfast, so I got both and we just shared everything. THEY HAVE GRITS BOWLS THERE AND THEY ARE EVEEEERYTHING. it’s a must have for sure. Kyle got the steak and swiss sandwich and then the waffles have strawberries and nutella. (a match made in HEAVEN)

We headed to Topsail island (my heart) I love this place so damn much, I can hardly stand it. We parked where his mom got married and walked down the beach a while looking for sand dollars. It was warm but the wind was cool and the water was surprisingly warm. I mean, it was cool, but walking it in and getting used to it, it got warm. For May, it was not as cold as I expected it to be though.

We drove back to Hampstead and got sushi and Sushi Gem. They had the best shrimp tempura roll I have ever hadddd. Shrimp tempura is hard to mess up, but their’s was amazing. That’s what you get at the seafood capital of the North Carolina though. LOL. I got the one called “Grand Canyon” and I want to say it was shrimp tempura, avocado, something else.. and then had tempura flakes and eel sauce on top. I ate the entire thing – I can usually never finish a whole roll. BEST SUSHI EVER.

We were headed home and we stopped in Raleigh so Kyle could pick up some work stuff and we got dinner at Moe’s. (did you know the Moe’s at Crabtree Valley Mall offers 50% off for military?)

It was such a good weekend, even if it felt like we were driving the entire time. And it left me feeling completely depleted this week – which is why I haven’t blogged until TODAY. I think also my allergies are sucking the life out of me too.. They’ve been horrible the last couple weeks, and I can’t shake it. I was taking Claritin but it didn’t do anything for me, so on Monday I bought Allegra and Zyrtec to take together and it’s helped as far as sneezing goes, but I still feel so so so tired.

Which means our house is also a mess because Kyle has been working literally non stop between the fire department and pressure washing. He got a gig with Chick-Fil-A in town doing their concrete once a week for the summer, so he went and did that the other night and was there until 4 am – so he was just out of it the entire next day. And when the house is a mess, I get stressy. Especially since I haven’t had 2 seconds to clean it this week between getting set up with my school to retake a class this summer, trying to eat better and cook more, taking Kyle’s mom to dinner for mother’s day, visiting the babies last night and we’re going back today, and then tomorrow I have to go to Raleigh to start my Stelara medication and then I have another appointment in Nashville shortly after.

I was supposed to go home this weekend, but I really just don’t think I can do it. I am getting pissed off just typing this because I really don’t  want to blog right now. But I don’t want to get behind because we I get out of my rut here, I know I’ll be kicking my own ass for it. I’m already behind with my sponsored work because I haven’t had a chance to get any photographs done so if you’re working with me right now & happen to be reading this, wondering where your posts are, So sorry. THEY’RE COMING.

I hope everyone is having a good week so far. I can’t believe it’s already Thursday. Preschool is almost done for the summer over here, which blows my mind. This year has gone by so so fast. I’m super stoked for this summer, though. I got my first ever “courtesy” hotel stay which is cool. One step closer to sponsored travel, LOL. And we’re doing so much else – Kyle literally has 17 days off in a row. HE’S GUNNA HAVE A BEARD AGAIN GUYS. It’s the little things, right?

xo, k
