What’s in my Makeup Bag? (PART 2!)

As we discover new products that we love, we start incorporating new things into our routines! I’ve found a few new things that I seem to not be able to live without since I’ve started using them….

My makeup has been super basic lately as I’ve sort of been loving my natural face and the low maintenance routine that comes with not wanting to wear too much. Also, my skin has cleared up a ton, so I’m trying not to spend too much time in the morning messing with it.

I got this really cute bag for Christmas, (here; only $16!) but I totally picked it out myself when we were shopping in Orlando, LOL. I got it from Sugarboo&Co. at the Disney Springs place, and I LOVE it. I loved everything in that store. Rebecca Puig is the artist that designs everything and she has such a cool, minimal, bohemian/whimsy, kind of style. I just really loved her stuff and her shop’s manifesto is:

We believe life is beauty full.
We believe in supporting artisans near and far.
We believe in daydream believers.
We believe the world is our canvas.
We believe kind words cost nothing.
We believe in choosing love everyday.
We believe in paintings, poetry, and good music.
We believe in counting blessings instead of troubles.
We believe mother nature is the best artist.
We believe our lives should be love letters to the world.
We believe in being great and full, but mostly grateful.
We believe Picasso was right: Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
We believe it’s not what you have, it’s what you give.
We believe in celebrating life every day.
We believe originality is king.
We believe in things that have soul.
We believe we are all a work in progress and patience is a virtue.
We believe in brave and kind hearts.
We believe in looking for the good.
We believe there’s no time to be bored in a world as magical as this.
We believe the best therapist has fur and four paws.
We believe a beautiful thing is never perfect.
We believe not only in making an income, but making an impact.
We believe in seizing the day.
We believe life should be a splendid adventure.
We believe the golden rule actually works.
We believe every day is an opportunity to make a new happy ending.
Above all, we believe in putting good things into the world.
Which is just.. I mean, amazing. 👏👏👏

I am totally Maybelline obsessed lately.. I love the matte line of their foundations, and I use both the liquid (in the AM) and the powder (for when I get shiny) but this winter, I haven’t really had to bother with the powder. My skin has been SO dry- which I’m not going to complain about because usually my skin is super oily.

Maybelline also has a bitchin’ eyebrow palette. I love it. There are 2 powders, one for highlighting, one for filling in. And there there’s a waxy-cream based color to brush into your brows and I’m just.. I love it. If I don’t do any makeup in the morning, I’m doing my brows, at least.

I’ve also been using my clinique chubby stick lately for contouring.. I’m still not very good at doing it, but it makes me look less ghostly, so I’m into it. Also, Maybelline has a really good face primer for people with oily skin, and I’ve been using that religiously, too. I always like to use a primer, but I could never find one that didn’t break me out. This stuff is amazing! And the Glamoflauge concealer is really good. I hate concealers that don’t actually conceal. I want a thick-ass concealer that gets the job done, and this stuff is really good for that!

Maybelline Line Stiletto liquid eyeliner >>>>>>>> everything else. Told y’all I was Maybelline obsessed. And my Max Factor mascara – I need a new one. It’s FABULOUS. And I use my little e.l.f. eyelash curler!

Not pictured: My Naked Palettes. If I’m feelin’ up to doing my eyes (usually I just do mascara and I move it along), I do loveee my palettes and I will always stand by their quality and my love for Urban Decay- LOL. LOVEEE the shadows! And I’m dying to get my hands on the third set!

Allllllllll of this makeup (except the chubby stick & Naked Palettes!) you can buy at a drugstore, Target, Walmart, wherever. And I’ve found they they all work just. as. damn. well. as any of the high-end products. And since my skin is so sensitive, I’ve tried and used tooooooons of different products high-to-low end. These have been my favorites.

I think if I could change anything, I’d switch back to using Bare Essentials foundation, but I just can’t afford it right now, and Maybelline has been so good to meeee. Their matte line is EVERYTHING if you deal with oily skin – and as far as brushes go, always be sure to check out Bed Bath and Beyond, and e.l.f. They have really nice application products for under ten bucks! It’s really not that important (IMO) to be spending all this money on makeup brushes…. I mean, really.

  • Shaking up my routine with Herbal Essences Blue Ginger & Micellar Water Shampoo and Ginger Conditioner. I’ve been way into bath/skin/hair care recently. Spending all my $$ on loofas and soaps. @herbalessences came in for the save with this one 😂 but also these smell great and make my hair feel amazeballs.

  • Quote of the day: “Be alone. Eat alone. Take yourself on dates. Sleep alone. In the midst of this, you will learn about yourself. You will grow. You will figure out what inspires you. You will curate your own dreams, your own beliefs, your own stunning clarity, and when you meet the person that makes your cells dance, you will be sure of it, because you will be sure of yourself.”
  • Been sleeping all day in anticipation for super bowl food
  • Today I’m grateful for the things about me that I always considered to be my “bad” qualities.
I think “bad” qualities are something we all possess, but I also think they’re useful in the sense that they do a job to weed the people out of our lives that aren’t beneficial to our end game- whatever that may be.
So I’m listing my “bad” qualities this morning and I’m going to repurpose them. What good have they brought me?
Some of the good I’ve come up with include: clarity, new surroundings, a chance to do what i need for myself, a new appreciation for life, love for myself that I didn’t realize I had, and so many more.
If you’re feeling especially down about yourself, I challenge you to make a list of the things you don’t love and repurpose them. Think about what kind of good came out of your bad qualities and embrace that.
I fully believe we are who we are for a reason and we should probably stop trying to be what we think people want us to be, and we should just.. be. Good, bad, and everything in between. You’ll be surprised who and what you attract.

  • Somethin about being sweet and wearing a crown. idk. I’m an asshole.
  • Life can get confusing.
Intentions can get lost.
Goals can change.
It’s just what happens. But I’m going to try my damndest to channel the inner freebird inside me and learn to roll with these changes instead of trying to control them.
We’re not in control of what happens. We’re only in control of our reactions and the choices we make.
