This weekend my mom and I went away to spend some time together, taking photos and going to new little places! The original plan was to hike several different trails for different views, but after the first one and an hour-long anxiety episode, I decided against it and we found other things to do. HAHA. Maybe hiking just isn’t my thing?? It’s honestly not something I really even enjoy, except from the photography point of view. I love the views you get from top (or bottom) of a long hike, and I’ve literally never been disappointed. But I just… meh. So we went to a little Amish store. My mom loves to buy her sweeteners and stuff from there!
After that, we headed to Walmart so we could get lunch and I needed a mini SD card for the GoPro. I may or may not have lost the original one… Then we headed to Stone Mountain! We parked at the Upper Trail Head Parking lot and did the trail to the Stone Mountain Falls. It was only .6 miles – easy, right? NO. OF COURSE IT WASN’T. I didn’t know that the .6 miles was all stairs. My legs were jello by the time I got to the bottom, and I still had to get all the way back up. Lol @ my life.
At this point, I knew I messed up. 😂
So we finished that trail and I was 100000% done with it. I didn’t want to do anymore trails. I wanted to leave the wilderness at once. 😂 We drove around a little before heading to our hotel and I stayed in my headphones the entire drive there because I was trying to calm my ass down. *eye roll* Sometimes anxiety really ruins the fun for me.
We got to our hotel and turns out they had us in a smoking room, which isn’t something we’re flexible on. The woman said I could go up there to smell it and see if it’s something I could “deal with” and we agreed (even though we already sort of knew it wasn’t going to happen). The whole floor smelled like smoke. She said they have a spray that neutralizes the smell but the spray itself is so strong I wouldn’t be able to go in there for 10-15 minutes.
So we canceled our reservations and we sat in the parking lot for over an hour looking for another hotel. I was extra done at this point, and I was trying to convince my mom to just take me home and we could hang out there. LOL.
Luckily we didn’t do that. We found a hotel in down town Winston-Salem that was really nice and it was in walking distance of all the restaurants!
Winston-Salem is such a sweet little area with so much history! I wish we had stayed a bit longer to see some of it! When we left, we drove to some village in Wake Forest. It was a Sunday, so nothing was really open but it was a really nice area for running, dog walking, etc. There are some shops, spas, and restaurants there, too!
When we finished lunch we drove a little further west to the Divine Llama Winery! We really only went for the llamas but I did get a couple glasses! But come on! Wine tasting and llamas? Yes, please.
HOW CUTE ARE THEY??
LLAMA LLAMA MOOSE
(Llamas are a part of the Camel family!)
Then we drove about an hour to the Triad Farmer’s Market in Greensboro! It was bigger than the one in Raleigh, but not as many people. We got sunflowers and apples! They also had ice creams, wines, and stands for fresh lemonade, kettle corn, and other goodies!
I was hungry so we ran over to Dame’s Chicken & Waffles. I went to the one in Durham and it was life-changing so of course we stopped at the one in Greensboro.. I mean, duh. It was amazing, as usual.
GOD, I LOVE THE SOUTH
After we ate, we met with a friend of mine for ice cream! I haven’t seen Emily in SO long so it was really nice to catch up, vent, and talk!
Also, road trips with mom = listening to a song and then listening to the same song, just covered by several different people 😂
