Wood Accessories: The Perfect Transition Piece

I’m so obsessed with my JORD watch* – much more than I thought I would be! I’m loving the wood trend in fashion accessories lately – watches, shades, jewelry, etc. and they are the perfect seasonal transition pieces! Wood goes with everything. It’s elegant, it’s natural, it’s trendy, it’s casual, it is so versatile!

This brand itself is really neat, artist-centered, and they put a lot of focus on life and its moments rather than just making watches to tell time. Their website offers so much information on their brand and their materials, which is awesome to me because you know how much I love transparency!

You can find this exact watch ➵ here if you like it as much as I do- it’s the Frankie 35 series in Zebrawood & Champange and it’s a thing of neutral beauty!! You can also get this style in Zebrawood & Navy, Dark Sandalwood & Mint, and my second favorite- Dark Sandalwood & Slate! They’re only $179 – which I think is a total steal for a quality watch with this kind of uniqueness blended into its design. Zebrawood, coming from West Africa, is described on their site as having “a striking grain” and “pronounced growth rings” which is so true! When Kyle saw this watch, he said if it were any bigger, he could tell me how old the tree it came from was!! LOL. Zebrawood is also known as a “luxury hardwood”! If you interested in more information on their materials, you can visit their website!

Here, you can find the different parts they use to make their pieces tick. 😉 There are 7 different pieces and they give you a pretty thorough run down on all the techy-details which makes it really easy to do research on the quality of the product!

And then here  they give you more information on sapphire which is used as the face of the watches. It’s a synthetic crystal (as opposed to using real glass) and it’s second to diamond as the hardest and more scratch resistant material. It’s also resistant to impact which is good because I’m like a child when it comes to taking care of my belongings.

Like I mentioned above, the wood theme in general is such a versatile trend that can be taken in and out of every season – I definitely see me getting my use out of this watch in coming years! I also love that this brand is committed to their wood design, and that it’s like, their niche, you know? Since this brand is strictly “wood watches” the quality is there since this is what they do!

This watch is super light weight which makes it feel less like a bulky watch and more like a bracelet. It adds some class to my every day outfits (which is nice since I dress so casual it’s borderline lounge wear sometimes) So it serves as a nice reminder to others that no I’m not in pajamas, I just put a lot of importance on my comfort. LOL.

I’ve never been a big watch-wearer as I’ve always felt like they get in the way, they’re not comfortable to wear, they’re heavy, and just obnoxious!! But this one is beautiful, unique and so light! I think it’s the perfect balance between casual and luxury, and it pairs well with nearly everything I own! The style of this watch is right up my alley and I can’t take it off!!

You can check out the rest of their women’s watch collection ➵ here!

When I brought this home, Kyle was super jealous. He loves the wood trend as well and has had his eye on different wood watches for the last year or two. My mom and sister both are looking at their website now and putting these watches on their Christmas lists!! It’s such a unique and comfortable piece, and it’s so appealing to a wide range of ages, both genders, and every style!

You will curate your own dreams, your own beliefs, your own stunning clarity, and when you meet the person that makes your cells dance, you will be sure of it, because you will be sure of yourself.”

  • Today I’m grateful for the things about me that I always considered to be my “bad” qualities.
I think “bad” qualities are something we all possess, but I also think they’re useful in the sense that they do a job to weed the people out of our lives that aren’t beneficial to our end game- whatever that may be.
So I’m listing my “bad” qualities this morning and I’m going to repurpose them. What good have they brought me?
Some of the good I’ve come up with include: clarity, new surroundings, a chance to do what i need for myself, a new appreciation for life, love for myself that I didn’t realize I had, and so many more.
If you’re feeling especially down about yourself, I challenge you to make a list of the things you don’t love and repurpose them. Think about what kind of good came out of your bad qualities and embrace that.
I fully believe we are who we are for a reason and we should probably stop trying to be what we think people want us to be, and we should just.. be. Good, bad, and everything in between. You’ll be surprised who and what you attract.

  • Life can get confusing.
Intentions can get lost.
Goals can change.
It’s just what happens. But I’m going to try my damndest to channel the inner freebird inside me and learn to roll with these changes instead of trying to control them.
We’re not in control of what happens. We’re only in control of our reactions and the choices we make.
